Ottawa, December 2023

The School of Dance is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Jim and Ginette Munson Encouragement Awards:

  1. Myriam Garcia Cournoyer
  2. Sebastian Henderson

The Awards honour two great Canadians and their ongoing commitment to The School of Dance including significant support of our DragonFly Programme for learners with Down syndrome. We have chosen to honour Jim and Ginette through the hallmarks of their own commitment to young people growing and learning in education, sports, and the arts by focusing the awards on diversity, confidence building, and hope.

The two $500 Encouragement Awards in honour of Jim and Ginette Munson go to Myriam Garcia Cournoyer, a member of our DragonFly® Programme who is now taking a leadership role in preparing materials for our younger DragonFly students, and to Sebastian Henderson, a young dancer in Level 2 of our Professional Ballet Division. Both deserve encouragement as they reach for their dreams. <Read More>

The School of Dance Rich Little Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts Awards

Ottawa, September 2023

The School of Dance announced today the winner of the 2023 Rich Little Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts, provided by the City of Ottawa to The School of Dance for administration:

· Artur Halanishyn

The School of Dance is proud to collaborate with the City of Ottawa in the important role of supporting young dance artists. The School of Dance gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the City of Ottawa.

Congratulations to Artur!

Rich Little Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts

This program was designed specifically to assist young emerging artists in the continuation of intensive professional training in the performing arts (dance, theatre, and music).

In 2023, local arts training organizations with solid track records of providing professional arts training to young adults were invited to act as third-party recommenders in a partnership approach to the awarding of funding. Each organization selected one to three deserving students to receive a grant, funded through the Rich Little Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts.
